History Alive! Presentation at our March 14,2012 General Meeting

  • Historic Christ Church, Stevensville
  • 14 March, 2012 (Wednesday)
  • Plan to join us for this exciting presentation by Mary Ann Jung of History Alive!. Relive the drama of life during the War of 1812 as we meet Rosalie Calvert of Riversdale Plantation.
  • In 1794 Henri Stier and his family, including the sixteen-year-old Rosalie, left their home in Belgium to escape Napoleon's invasion. Rosalie grew up to marry George Calvert in 1799 and became mistress of his plantation, Mt. Albion. When her father returned to Belgium, he left his plantation in Bladensburg, "Riversdale Plantation", to his daughter Rosalie -- not her husband, which was very unusual for the time. Learn firsthand through this fantastic presentation what it meant to be in charge of two growing plantations in early 1800's Maryland through the remarkable story of Rosalie Calvert!
  • Learn more about the Riversdale House grounds and museum in Prince George's County, Maryland.
  • Learn more about Rosalie of Riverside...
