Annual Picnic
- Kirwan House/Farm
- Each year the Kent Island Heritage Society (KIHS) hosts a Fall Picnic for Members and guests at the historic Kirwan Farm!
- Our Old Fashioned Picnic is free to Members and their guests. In 2011, festivities were held on October 2 from 1:00 - 5:00pm.
- The Kirwan House is located at 641 Dominion Road Chester, Maryland. (Route 552)
- Members and guests have the opportunity to check out the 1890s-era house, elaborately furnished with Victorian-style artifacts from the 1890s and 1920s.
- The scenic hay ride around the farm is fun for all ages!
- The Little Creek Boys are always a hit, entertaining members and guests with their special brand of bluegrass music.
- The event includes a potluck dinner, courtesy of our Members. Tasty fried chicken, hot dogs, iced tea and lemonade are provided by the KIHS. Games including horseshoes, board games, and children's games are open to all, and demonstrations and displays are ongoing throughout the day.
- Don't neglect to bring a guest and introduce them to the fun, Kent Island style!
